It's a Wherry good way to run a railway

Ispent a weekend in East Anglia and was most impressed by the way Anglia Railways has really got itself under the skin of local communities. At Reedham (on the 'Wherry Line' - Norwich to Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft), the village notice board is sponsored by Anglia and even one of the pubs, which was some distance from the station, had beer mats promoting the 'Wherry Line'. Small things - but indicative of a relentless attention to the detail of marketing and promotion. Although some rural railways seem to cling to the edge of the villages they serve, not considered a serious travel option by many locals, Anglia seems to have made itself part of the furniture and become a respected, local brand, as the marketing people might have it.
