A century ago, on September 19, 1906, a passenger train hurtled past danger signals at Grantham and derailed on a curve, killing 14 people. As both enginemen died, no-one could find out why - but due to subsequent 'sleuthing', a solution has almost certainly now been found. NICK PIGOTT reports.
