The Great Western region is to be the subject of substantial investment over the next decade to help cater with an anticipated increase in passenger numbers.rnNetwork Rail published its draft route utilisation strategy (RU5) for the zone on September 1 - just weeks after the Government's announcement of the electrification of routes out of Paddington - and the recommendations include increasing the number of carriages and additional running lines.
