The ticket that dare not speak its name - the 'All Lines Rover' - may enjoy a rehabilitation following the news that the Transport Minister, Lord Adonis, used one to get around Britain on a five-day, 2,200-mile fact-finding mission in April. The expedition, which took place during the Parliamentary Easter recess, was made using a £375 Rail Rover ticket allowing unlimited travel on most National Rail services. Lord Adonis travelled on 14 trains during his odyssey, which took him as far as Truro, Ashford, Norwich, Edinburgh, Inverness, Aberdeen and Chester.
