Accident rate rises in Croydon FIGURES obtained from Transport for London show that Croydon trams are involved in an accident every 11 days on average. The data records 49 incidents between January 2010 and July 2011 - up from 28 in 2009 and 25 in 2008. Martin Brown, TfL's director of health, safety and environment, said it was often the fault of careless pedestrians rather than drivers. He said: "Many of the incidences could have been prevented if users took that extra moment to look carefully before crossing the tracks."
