A second'Britannia; No. 70000, has begun main line revenue earning activities following a protracted acceptance process, which was abruptly ended on December 1 last year when the test run was cancelled at 24 hours notice and the engine returned to Crewe. A final test run, to ensure the vacuum-brake system was in good order, was carried out from Bishops Lydeard to Southall on April 5. The'Brit'was joined by GWR'King' No. 6024 King Edward I at Didcot and then No. 70000 ran on to Southall.
