The normally sold-out 'Fellsman'steam special will run again this year, its third season from stations in the North West offering a day trip through the Yorkshire Dales over the Settle & Carlisle line. The train runs on Wednesdays between July 20 and September 14 inclusive, starting at Lancaster and calling at Preston, Blackburn and Long Preston and is booked to be powered by the Carnforth-based pool of LMS Pacifies or LMS8F No. 48151 Gauge 0 Guild. The trains serves Appleby and Carlisle and is promoted by'Statesman Rail', which has again negotiated reduced rate fares for passengers using Virgin and Northern Rail's connecting services.
