Having been in apple green and Brunswick green, new-build A1 No. 60163 Tornado is to be repainted into British Railways dark blue. The decision - which confirms a pledge made by the A1 Trust while the Pacific was being built - was taken by its board on September 14. It has not yet been decided whether it will carry a lipped or rimless chimney, both of which would be authentic with the early-1950s blue livery. Although only three years old, 60163 has clocked up 58,000 miles in service and is two-thirds of the way towards its first general overhaul.
