Looking good for loco turning on Norton Fitzwarren triangle

The West Somerset Railway anticipates turning locomotives on its Norton Fitzwarren triangle from early 2012. Commissioning of the triangle is expected during January, on receipt of a licence exemption from the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR). Its principal use is likely to be the turning of locomotives arriving with tours off the main line. Around 125 metres of rail were delivered on November 23 to complete and lengthen the Allerford spur to the long-demolished Allerford bridge. A delivery of flat-bottom rail for the East chord, to complete the inner triangle, was expected around the beginning of December.
