Chris gibb joined British Rail in 1981 as a junior clerk on the Southern Region and six years later was working for the Scottish Region. In January 1997, he was appointed operations director (Wales and North) of BR's regional Wales & West operation and subsequently held managing director positions at Wales & West and Cardiff Railway Co. In June 2003, he joined Virgin Trains as Crosscountry managing director, becoming chief operating officer of Virgin West Coast just over four years later. He is married with two children and lives in Warwickshire.
