Train operator London Midland is cutting 150 staff from its workforce of 2,400. In a briefing note to staff, managing director Patrick Verwer says LM has"to significantly reduce rising costs"in order to stem future losses. The note does not state exactly why or where the jobs are being lost, but it is understood that the move relates to maintenance costs for the Class 350 fleet. An increase in the use of Class 321s has been noted at the southern end of the WCML.
