The name Graham Lee and his plans to build a new railway, to be named the Statfold Barn Railway, first appeared in the pages of The RM in mid-2004. Graham does not actively seek publicity, but his railway and the stunning collection of equipment assembled at a farm a couple of miles from Tamworth, Staffordshire, have become regular fixtures in our news pages. How could it be otherwise when the last 15 years have seen the assembly of a fleet of some 20 operational steam locomotives available to work at any one time, with another 10 or so awaiting restoration? One has to qualify the precise numbers, as locos can change from dereliction to glorious steam action in stunningly short timeframes - as can the infrastructure of the railway itself, which seems to provide something new for every visit.
