Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the RCMP Veterans' Association held their first-ever virtual annual general meeting (AGM) on June 5, 2021. Membership from every division across the country had the opportunity to participate in an AGM without having to travel. This unique event gave participants the ability to see and hear the AGM, listen to the Commissioner address the membership in attendance and pose questions and have her respond. During the general meeting portion of the afternoon all members were able to express concerns, make suggestions and be part of setting the course for the Association. Members were able to vote online for various motions prior to the AGM as we have done in the past. The presentation of the results of these votes was provided virtually with graphics and a verbal overview. While this format had some limitations, we now have experience with it, there are also many possibilities for future AGMs to offer broader access with reduced costs.
