Shipbuilder Fincantieri and systems supplier ABB S.p.A. have signed an agreement to create an equally owned joint venture in Italy for the design, develop- ment, and delivery of marine integrated automation systems for the naval, cruise, ferry and megayacht markets. The company will be headquartered in Genoa. The venture has been established to exploit the way that integrated automation systems are playing an increasingly important role in shipbuilding, facilitating the development and construction of single control platforms, with considerable benefits for ship functionality, performance and maintenance.
