The method involves connecting components (12, 14) with each other by a joining element (16) i.e. nail, and exerting test force on an end region of the joining element projecting from one of the components along direction of a longitudinal axis of the joining element. Another test force aligned opposite to the former test force is exerted on a region of the component. The test forces are increased until the joining element is fed from the component. Time course of the test forces is measured, and a maximum value of the test forces is compared with a threshold value.
