AWD removed from projects of concern list

The builder of the Royal Australian Navy's Air Warfare Destroyers (AWDs), ASC Shipbuilding, has welcomed the Federal Government's decision to move the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project off the Defence Department's Projects of Concern List. ASC Chair Bruce Carter welcomed the decision. "The workforce of ASC Shipbuilding throughout the AWD programme has succeeded in the face of at-times misplaced and strident criticism - this result shows what can be achieved by Australian shipbuilders now and into the future," said Carter.
