US Navy sets ambitious manning goals for DD-21 programme

The 21 st Century Land Attack Destroyer (DD-21) is the next generation of US Navy major surface warship, the successor to the DDG-51 'Arleigh Burke'-class, and the first of a new 'family' of warships which will be complemented by a new generation cruiser, the successor to the Aegis-equipped 'Ticonderoga'-class. The DDG-51 has a complement of 380 and the CG-47 358, but the new warship could be manned 75 per cent fewer personnel.
