Alabama-built chemical tanker completed for Darmebrog

The US builder Alabama Shipyard has completed the first of its two 16,000dwt chemical tankers for the Danish owner Dan-nebrog Rederi. Technically, this is the first self-propelled ocean-going vessel to be completed for export by an American yard in 40 years, although Newport News' first Double Eagle tanker American Progress would have achieved that honour last year if it had been delivered to its original owner, the Greek Eletson company (she was sold to Mobil).
