HSS 1500 wake problem recurs

Stena Line solved the problem of excessive wake caused by its HSS 1500 two years ago, but this July a new, isolated, wake problem occurred. Stena Line's HSS 1500 fast ferry Stena Discovery is back in the headlines for caus-ng excessive wash, this time reportedly resulting in the death of a fisherman off the UK coast in Suffolk at the end of July. It was claimed that die vessel's wash caused the small boat the man was on to rock violently, causing him to loose his balance, and fall overboard and drown. The man could not swim and was not wearing a buoyancy aid or life jacket. The interim report into the incident by the UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) concluded that it probably was the wash from Stena Discovery that had caused the accident.
