Hyde Guardian BWTS for Russian icebreaker

US based marine solutions company, Hyde Marine, has announced that its Hyde Guardian ballast water treatment system (BWTS) HG600 unit has been selected for the largest icebreaker in the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) Rosmorport fleet. The system will be installed on the Russian 22600 project, a 25MWh power diesel vessel, which is due to be delivered in 2015 and installed at the Baltic Shipyard. The fully automated chemical-free system, which contains automatic backwashing depth filtration and powerful UV disinfection, will enable FSUE Rosmorport to meet ballast water treatment regulations associated with the ballast water convention, introduced by the International Maritime Organisation in 2004 to address the control and spread of invasive aquatic species via ships' ballast water and sediments.
