More than $220 million is currently being spent on airfield construction projects at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, as a result of a long-term U.S. commitment to ensure the security and stability of the democratically-elected Government of Afghanistan (GoA). By increasing its forces in Afghanistan, the U.S. hopes to enable International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) to secure enemy-occupied areas and maintain peace for inhabitants.
