The Thomas Pocklington Trust, a charity for those with sight loss, has recently published the Light for Sight Framework report to highlight the issue of good lighting in the home and its contribution to the lives and wellbeing of the partially sighted. The report, prepared in conjunction with eleven professional bodies, including architects and health and social care specialists, sets out eight key goals for establishing 'Light for Sight' as a routine principle in housing and health and social care, including a requirement that all new houses should be designed and built with light for sight in mind - and for more information and training on lighting to be given to social care andrnhousing professionals, as well as people with sight loss themselves.
