Atkins is a multidisciplinary organisation that is committed to sustainable design. The simplest articulation of what it does is 'plan, design and enable'. Atkins positions itself as a leader in roads, engineering, architecture, water, environment (landscape, ecology and noise) quantity surveying, and traffic and transportation planning with a large number of private and public sector clients. It is one of the world's leading engineering consultancies employing over 16,000 people worldwide. In Ireland, Atkins employs more than 150 staff, with offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast. According to a spokesperson for the organisation: "We have the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects."
