Young Engineers Society meets European counterparts

The Young Engineers Society (YES) recently sent two of its members, Siobhan McGrath, MIEI, of Celtic Anglian Water and Sinead Hanlon, MIEI, of ESBI, to represent Engineers Ireland at the 32nd Conference of the European Young Engineers (EYE). The conference, 'Engineering the Future' was held from June 3-5, 2011 in Varna, Bulgaria and was hosted by the Bulgarian organisation, the Federation of Scientific Engineering Unions (FNTS). The aim of the conference was to allow student and young professional engineers from all over Europe to meet and discuss social and technical developments affecting engineers. Committee members from young engineering societies around Europe met to discuss events in their home organisations and opportunities to facilitate the mobility of young engineers. There were many opportunities to socialise, one of the highlights being the Gala dinner which gave participants the opportunity to experience Bulgarian food and culture, and to join in a traditional folk dance.
