The amendment, tabled by environment minister Lord Zac Goldsmith today, would remove the bill’s existing goal to‘further the objective of halting’ the decline in the abundance of species, and replaces it with the target of ‘halting’the decline by 2030.Last week, following the Scottish National Party’s agreement of a pact with the Scottish Greens, the ScottishGovernment set out a draft policy document committing to a Natural Environment Bill, which will also include legallybinding nature recovery targets to halt the decline of Scotland’s biodiversity by 2030.
