The High Court has heard of the “absolute desperation” of residents living near WalleysQuarry landfill in Staffordshire, whose lives have been blighted by the noxious smellsemanating from the site.Lawyers acting on behalf of local five-year old Mathew Richards, whose health doctors say will not recoverunless he has access to clean air, are seeking a judicial review and a mandatory court order requiring theEnvironment Agency (EA) to take “effective measures” to remove the risk to his health and his family’s homeposed by hydrogen sulphide (H2S) emissions from the landfill.
