The rise of craft brewers over the past decade has been prolific. Particularly in the US, where industry body the Brewers Association (BA) estimated that in 2012 craft brewers produced more than 13 million barrels of beer (15.3m hectolitres), accounting for about 6.5 percent of the entire market by volume. And the craft brewing trend is gradually being embraced by other countries - first through imports of US craft beers, which were up a massive 72 percent by volume last year-and also through the establishment of local, domestic breweries. In the UK, a strong micro brewing culture has existed for a number of years, with brewers primarily making ales and bitters often enjoyed by an older generation of beer aficionados.
