Success for a mining organisation will be increasingly judged in terms of financial, environmental and social performance. These dimensions will underpin sustainable development and operations. The basics of a sound management system must be in place to achieve reliability in the organisation. Leadership is a crucial factor. Success will in large measure be about people working together within a 'requisite' organisation from the mine face up to the board room. Success will belong to those mining companies which are operationally and strategically fostering a climate conducive to people working together as a team with strong leaders who provide the direction and motivation.
