摘要

Sound art, with its roots in the experimental music of John Cage in the 1950s and the installation art of the likes of Michael Asher during the 1970s, is intrinsically connected to issues of site and space. Sound art shares with architecture a technical concern for acoustics, and has helped to expand the debate about architecture's role in its social and material context. In Sight of Sound #2: Of Architecture and the Ear and its accompanying 13-track CD, Brandon LaBelle and Claudia Martinho have brought together examples of recent sound art and acoustic research that emphasise the bonds between the two disciplines.
