This Project By Mellor Architects is the School of Art and Design at the University of Central Lancashire. It's a great example of the quality of glare-free daylight Kalwall produces and the unique ambience it creates. There are many reasons to specify Kalwall - increased insulation ('U' Values from 1.25W/m2K to 0.28W/m2K are possible), solar control (eliminating glare and shadows), external noise control, aesthetics, privacy, reduced energy costs, elimination of curtains or blinds and, such as here, perfect colour rendition for art. Importantly, no other translucent system creates the same quality of diffused daylight as Kalwall which also exerts a unique influence on concentration and wellbeing and, as schools confirm, on pupil behaviour and learning.
