Artificial lighting is an incredibly important design element. With all the latest LED technology to hand, the integration of lighting into the architectural fabric has become easier, with fittings getting smaller and light outputs higher. However, one has to be careful to not overdo it and be mindful that the artificial light is not taking over the general design concept. Lighting, in our view, has a supporting role, for example to bring out material qualities, texture, colour or to highlight art or architectural details. Therefore our aim is always to develop the architectural or interior ideas first and then support it by the lighting design. Here are three examples of how Patalab has integrated lighting into recent projects.
