The study of the long-term effects of a catastrophic black oil spill in the Kerch Strait

In order to study the effects of the black oil contamination upon the environment and biota of the Kerch Strait and the processes of the recovery of the communities within the polluted zones, the Institute of Oceanology and the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF-Russia) carried out in February and July of 2008 combined studies aimed at the assessment of the states of the bottom ecosystems of the shallow water regions affected by the accidental spilling of the black oil.
