Niche marketing has been the battle cry among US textile and apparel makers in recent years, as manufacturers have overhauled business strategies and searched for markets in which they can better compete. By moving away from traditional commodity markets and focusing on more specialized ones, many US producers are finding a way not only to survive, but also to avoid heavy competition and earn higher profit margins.
