AN ADAPTIVE TOKEN PASSING PROTOCOL ON A STAR LAN

The IEEE 802.5 is the standard protocol for token ring local area networks (LAN's) currently in use in many areas. It is popular because of its many advantages, including reliability, simplicity of hardware, ease of use with various transmission media, efficiency at heavy load and flexibility in link length and number of stations attached to the network. One of its drawbacks, however, is its inefficiency at moderate and light loads.
