Md. Regulators Back DC PSC On Access Recovery Charge

The Maryland Public Service Commission issued its support for a petition filed by the District of Columbia PSC in August that asks the FCC to reconsider its ruling when it comes to the creation of an access recover charge (ARC) meant to help buffer the end of intercarrier compensation. In comments filed in Wireline Competition dockets 10-90, 07-135, 05-337, and 03-109, as well as Wireless Telecommunications docket 10-208, General docket 09-51, and Common Carrier dockets 01-92 and 96-45, the Maryland PSC said that changes made to the ICC as part of the Commission's universal service reform order last year could harm state ratepayers.
