The Communications Workers of America said its members are voting on whether to authorize a strike if "a fair contract" isn't reached with Qwest. It said members are submitting results to the CWA's District Seven office by Aug. 9. The union said its contract covering 20,000 workers in 13 states expires Aug. 16. The CWA said the negotiation is concentrating on wages, health care and the future availability of jobs.
