Ecolab is a company with the awareness of preventing various diseases transmitted by cleaning and eliminating the pathogens properly and specifically in areas of food processing.Soft drinks packaged in PET bottles have a long history of failure by stress cracking. A recent study at Ecolab studied the influence of environmental factors on stress cracking by evaluating the various failure rate data for different sets of bottles stored in shallow puddles of aqueous solutions. Further analysis revealed that humidity and water alkalinity greatly affected bottle failure. It was also identified that contact of the PET bottles with water having alkalinity greater than that which is found in municipal water sources did not result in failure, if evaporation of the water was prevented. The aqueous solutions of sodium bicarbonate, under conditions of humidity and on subjection to evaporation, were found to become more concentrated and lost carbon dioxide, and transformed to more basic anions.
