It was sad to see that Russell Hulme have fallen into administration and closed their doors with 300 redundancies and customers who now have to find other sources for their meat products. It is evident from discussions with the Food Standards Agency that some food businesses are not applying appropriate food safety procedures when applying and extending use-by-dates. The FSA tells us that these incidents have also highlighted the importance of traceability in ensuring that incident management progresses in a timely and effective manner.
