摘要

Une étude sémantique des emplois de prépositions spatiales du français (dans, sur, sous, etc.) aboutil aux deux résultats suivants: il n'est pas possible, dans le cadre d'une approche référentialiste, de caractériser simplement le sens de ces prépositions par des relations géométriques dans l'espace physique; en revanche, il est possible de caractériser leur sens par des relations topologiques simples sur une «scène verbale», construite par la parole. On en conclut que la topologie doit jouer un rôle structurant essentiel dans les mécanismes cognitifs à l'œuvre dans l'activité de langage. A semantic study of the use of French spatial prepositions (dans, sur, sous, etc.) leads to the two following results: it is not possible, in a referentialist approach, to simply characterize the meanings of these prepositions as geometrical relations in physical space; on the other hand, it is possible to characterize their meanings as simple topological relations on a «verbal scene» built by language itself. It can be concluded that topology plays an essential structuring role in the cognitive mechanisms operating in language activity. Eine semantische Untersuchung des Gebrauchs der französischen Präpositionen, die sich auf den Raum beziehen (dans, sur, sous, usw.) führt zu folgenden Ergebnissen: bei einem referentialistischen Ansatz ist es nicht möglich, die Bedeutung dieser Präpositionen durch geometrische Beziehungen im physikalischen Raum zu charakterisieren. Man kann jedoch ihre Bedeutung durch einfache topologische Beziehungen auf einer mit Worten konstruierten verbalen «Bühne» darstellen. Daraus folgt, daß die Topologie eine wichtige strukturierende Rolle bei den kognitiven Mechanismen spielt, die den sprachlichen Ausdruck prägen. Uno studio semantico dell'impiego delle preposizioni spaziali della lingua francese (dans, sur, sous, etc.) approdato ai seguenti due risultati: non è possibile caratterizzare semplicemente il senso di queste preposizioni per mezzo di relazioni geometriche all'interno dello spazio fisico tramite un approccio referenziale; in compenso è possibile caratterizzare il loro senso attraverso relazioni topologiche semplici all'interno di una «scena verbale» costruita dalla parola. Si conclude che la topologia deve giocare un ruolo costitutivo essenziale nei meccanismi cognitivi all'opera nell'attività linguistica.
