摘要

The bridge is technically unique among suspension bridges because of the application of the steel slab stiffening girder.rnIn order to ensure wind-resistant stability, the designer made an analysis of the wind-damaged old TacomarnNarrows Bridge and then took many engineering measures to improve the section layout of the bridge. The safety of the bridge has been ensured by theoretical analysis and wind tunnel model tests.rnThe successful construction of the bridge indicates that anticipated engin-eering superiority and cost effectiveness have been achieved by application of the steel slab girder.rnErection of the steel slab girder of the bridge is shown in Fig. 8. The bridge was completed in August, 2004.
