Growing through Volunteerism

Volunteerism is often viewed as an opportunity to give back and make a difference in the lives of others, but it also makes a difference in the life of the volunteer. I've had the pleasure to serve IMA® in a number of ways, ranging from being a chapter officer to chairing the IMA Research Foundation and the ICMA® Board of Regents. Along the way I've also served as an associate editor of the IMA Educational Case Journal and as a member of various committees, such as Academic Relations. While these roles provided benefit to IMA, they also helped challenge and develop me personally and professionally. They helped develop me into a leader and led to my role as IMA Chair-Elect. I'm looking forward to the work I will continue to do to help benefit IMA, but I'm also excited about tackling the challenges of the role, which is exactly why I say that volunteering makes a difference in the life of the volunteer.
