Ethics and sustainability in today's business environments

The experience of putting ethical principles before profit suggests that the neoclassical economic model, which focuses on the pursuit of personal wealth should be abandoned forrnone in which integrity and self-interest can coexist. Companies such as Harley Davidson and W.L. Gore and Associates have demonstrated that, contrary to typical business thinking, labor costs can be lower and profits higher in environments where business ethics and sustainable working practices create a community in which employees feel they have a real stake in meeting the needs of their customers.
