British space companies have survived the global industry downturn with little damage and most are expecting double-digit annual sales growth in the next couple of years, according to a survey for the British National Space Centre (BNSC). The survey compared the two-year period ending in March 2003 with the results of earlier two-year studies. The findings show that neither jobs nor revenues in Britain's space sector have suffered much, despite a global aerospace and telecommunications downturn since 2000. The survey, titled "Size and health of the U.K. space industry: 2003 update" and conducted by Bramshill Consultancy Ltd., finds that for the two years ending in March 2003, Britain's space sector posted sales of 3.9 billion British pounds ($7 billion). That represents an 8 percent increase over sales for the two years ending in March 2002, and a 22 percent increase over sales reported for the two years ending in March 2001.
