Home alone blues

New Year is traditionally the time for us to look back and see what has been achieved over the previous 365 days. So I turned up a Home Truths column last year in which I complained about the lack of interaction between the Army and my family when my husband was individually deployed. Since then, I have heard from other wives who, for various reasons, feel let down by the system. I understand some families may not want to be contacted by the Army, but this should not be an excuse for the Army to wash its hands of families not conveniently attached to a deployed regiment.
