Malaysian air crash victims remembered

Five British soldiers have finally been formally laid to rest nearly 62 years after they died in a plane crash in the Malaysian jungle. Personnel from 47 Air Despatch Squadron, Royal Logistic Corps helped to bury the 12 passengers and crew killed when their Royal Air Force Dakota KN630 went down in 1950 after losing power. Those on-board the aircraft had been on a target-marking sortie for Lincoln bombers tasked to destroy communist insurgent camps. But due to the security risk and inhospitable terrain, a rescue party was forced to put the deceased in makeshift graves close to the crash site. Only after a 2008 expedition involving 150 searchers were the human remains found.
