Diagnostic Assessment Tools for Assessing the Implementation and/or Use of Agile Methodologies in SMEs: An Analysis of Covered Aspects

Nowadays, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are using agile methodologies in an effort to produce software that meets the time requested by the market. However, a lack of knowledge of how to correctly apply agile methodologies might be contributing to inefficient software development in certain cases. To resolve this, a set of diagnostic assessment tools that aim to help SMEs in assessing the knowledge regarding an agile methodology has been developed. Unfortunately, most of them list questions without providing the expected support. This paper aims to analyze a set of the diagnostic assessment tools found in the literature to identify which elements are covered by them. Also, this analysis allowed the authors to identify deficiencies in the actual diagnostic assessment tools. As a result, a set of elements that should be taken into account was identified, as well as the proposal to assess the elements.
