Memory and its 'Other'

It is no exaggeration to state that now, perhaps more than any other time in history, we live in labyrinths of memory practices. But while the complex entanglements of memory practices in and through which we live have often been analyzed with respect to individual and/or collective consciousness, the infrastructures of memory-making are often forgotten or at least not given their due importance. Every era (or 'epoch', to use Geoffrey Bowker's terminology), particularly since the emergence of writing, has utilized infrastructures in constituting memory (and memories).
