摘要

Ambient intelligence (AmI), or now more commonly referred to as ubiquitous computing (ubicomp), evokes a near future in which humans will be surrounded by "always-on," unobtrusive, interconnected intelligent objects, few of which will bear any resemblance to the computing devices of today. The Utopian dream is for technologies to be embedded in every artifact imaginable, and at the same time, information exchange will be seamless. This seamless exchange of information implicates trust, privacy, and identity issues as core variables that need to be fully understood if we are to adopt and use ubicomp systems. This special issue brings together a collection of high-quality work that extends, refines, and challenges our understanding of privacy and trust issues, theoretical and methodological approaches, and policy and legal implications related to information exchange in a ubiquitous world.
