Kentucky utility awards Alliance 120,000-ton coal supply contract

East Kentucky Power Cooperative Inc. has awarded a 120,000 ton coal supply contract to an Alliance Resource Partners LP affiliate, according to documents recently provided to the Kentucky Public Service Commission. Alliance Coal LLC will provide the Spurlock Power Station with 20,000 tons of coal per month under the contract term of Jan. 1 through June 30. The coal is being sourced from Alliance’s Tunnel Ridge mine in Ohio County, W.Va.
