In January, the chapter's Young AFCEANs (YACs) held the latest event in their Leadership Breakfast Series at The GroundFloor collaboration space in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Sponsored by OMNI Technologies, this event featured special guest speaker Lindsay Jones (formerly Lindsay Yowell), deputy project manager (DPM) for the Distributed Common Ground Systems-Army (DCGS-A). During her presentation, Jones detailed her personal career progression, discussing how she worked her way up the civilian ranks from mechanical engineer to multiple leadership roles, including chief of the Soldier Systems Division and the Test and Quality Division chief for project manager, DCGS-A. She stepped into the DPM role in July 2015. Throughout her presentation, Jones emphasized four key areas of importance on which she believes all young professionals should focus: continuous learning, taking risks/moving outside of one's comfort zone, networking and finding a mentor. Overall, this event drew about 30 attendees of all ages and career backgrounds and offered an intimate look into the life of a senior leader at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
